Bio
Darren Roberts took the reigns of the Wake Tech Beach Volleyball program ahead of the 2024 season.
Roberts was named the Region 10 Coach of the Year in 2025, only his second season at Wake Tech. The team qualified for the NJCAA Beach Volleyball Championship in Huntsville, Alabama.
After playing two seasons indoor at Santa Monica College, Roberts moved to the sand where he began learning the vastly different game of beach volleyball. He played beach volleyball for nearly 15 years in Hermosa and Manhattan Beach. In that time, he was invited by Coach Anna Collier to join the Training Team for top AVP Players and future Olympians. He spent five years working with world class players and coaches, learning the game at an elite level.
This is not Roberts' first stop at the collegiate level, he led the beach program at NCAA DI Jacksonville University (2019-20).
Roberts has spent the last nine years teaching the beach game to North Carolina juniors preparing them to play at the collegiate level and beyond.
