Wake Tech outlasted Guilford Tech on Saturday after five lead changes, squeaking out a 7-2 win at North Main Athletic Complex.
Wake Tech outlasted Guilford Tech on Saturday after five lead changes, squeaking out a 7-2 win at North Main Athletic Complex.
The Eagles pulled out the win thanks to a strong fifth inning as Wake Tech scored on a two-run triple by Evan Maley off Shetley, plating Austin Warren and Travis Owens.
Maley racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Eagles.
Damon Ellis got the win for the Eagles. He allowed two runs over five innings. Ellis struck out two, walked two and gave up six hits.
Shetley ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He allowed seven runs in 4 2/3 innings, walked five and struck out three.
The top of the first saw Guilford Tech take an early lead, 1-0. Guilford Tech's rally started when Garvey singled. A stolen base then moved Garvey from first to second.
After a quick strike from the Titans, the Eagles responded with one run in the first. The Eagles scored on a sacrifice fly by Keegan Woolford.
