Eagles Hang On Against Guilford, 4-3
Guilford Technical was never able to get over the hump and overcome its troubles against the Eagles on Saturday, as Guilford Tech fell 4-3 after falling behind by two runs in the sixth inning.
Guilford Technical was never able to get over the hump and overcome its troubles against the Eagles on Saturday, as Guilford Tech fell 4-3 at North Main Athletic Complex after falling behind by two runs in the sixth inning.
Hampton Thomas brought the heat against the Titans during his outing. Guilford Technical managed just two hits off of the the Eagles' pitcher, who allowed two earned runs, walked five and struck out six during his 5 2/3 innings of work. Orth took the loss for Guilford Technical. He lasted just five innings, walked two, struck out six, and allowed three runs.
The top of the first saw the Titans take an early lead, 1-0. A solo blast by Orth started the inning off.
Guilford Technical got one-run rallies in the third inning and the seventh. In the third, Guilford scored on a sacrifice fly by Crammer, scoring Anderson.
The game's last lead went to the Eagles thanks to a fifth inning rally that saw one run cross the plate on an RBI single by Justin Huggins.
