Wake Tech Esports Announces Inaugural Roster
Raleigh, NC – Wake Technical Community College is pleased to announce its inaugural esports team members for the Spring 2021 semester.
Raleigh, NC – Wake Technical Community College is pleased to announce its inaugural esports team members for the Spring 2021 semester.
The Eagles will be participating in the National Junior College Athletic Association Esports (NJCAAE) league in three games including Rocket League, Overwatch, and Fortnite. Each game features several teams participating.
"I am amazed at the quality of talent we have for our first season as an esports organization," said Wake Tech Esports Coordinator Chase Sommer. "Not only do we have top ranked players in each game, we also have top tier team leaders, content creators, and students who want to work in the esports industry in the future."
Preseason competition is already underway and the official nine-week NJCAAE season goes from February 7 to April 10.
The first Collegiate Esports National Championship (CENC) will take place in Raleigh later in the spring and Wake Tech will compete. The tournament, hosted by Collegiate Sports Management Group (CSMG), is set for April 29 through May 2, 2021 at the Raleigh Convention Center.
