Wake Tech Men's Basketball has been on the verge of something spectacular all season long. That moment came against Brunswick Community College as solid defense and offensive firepower vaulted the Eagles to a 50-37 halftime lead. The night was far from over as the Dolphins frontcourt pressure allowed them to close the gap through the second half. Brunswick managed to take a brief lead with a few minutes to play, but through the adversity Wake Tech found a way to recover and tied the game sending it into overtime.
Both teams traded baskets through the first and second overtime period and neither club could capitalize on defense. In the waning moments of the second overtime Wake Tech went to the free throw line to grab a 3-point lead. True to form, no lead was safe as Brunswick guard Lysander Bracey raced down the floor and hit a 45 foot shot at the buzzer to send the game into a third overtime.
The Eagles turned up the pressure on defense and capitalized on several misses by the Dolphins to regain control 128-126. A final half court miss gave Wake Tech the win, but not before some impressive stats. Sophomore Lemont Martin-White set a school record by scoring 52 points on the night. Combine that effort with a triple-double by sophomore Kenneth Collins, who filled the stat sheet with 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists.
