Wake Tech elevates Keith Edgerton to head softball coach
Wake Tech Athletic Director Robin Pate announced today that Keith Edgerton has been named to lead the Eagles' softball program. Edgerton brings a broad range of coaching credentials to the Wake Tech program serving as a college, high school, and youth coach in North Carolina.
RALEIGH, NC – Wake Tech Athletic Director Robin Pate announced today that Keith Edgerton has been named to lead the Eagles' softball program. Edgerton brings a broad range of coaching credentials to the Wake Tech program serving as a college, high school, and youth coach in North Carolina.
"I am delighted that Keith has accepted the role to lead our softball program as head coach," said Pate. "His passion for student success, both athletically and on the diamond, is evident. He has a proven record of helping student-athletes meet their educational and athletic goals."
Most notably, Edgerton served as the interim head coach at Fayetteville Tech Community College (FTCC) before coming to Wake Tech in an assistant coach role in 2021. He started at FTCC in 2018 as an assistant and was named interim head coach for the 2021 season.
"I'm excited to join the Eagle family as the head softball coach," said Edgerton. "Wake Tech is in a great spot to compete successfully in the NJCAA and help students continue their educational and athletic goals."
A native of Goldsboro, Edgerton has coached youth travel softball in eastern North Carolina since 1999 with the Wayne County Hurricanes in the North Carolina/South Carolina National Softball Association (NC NSA) Fastpitch division. Several of Edgerton's teams were nationally ranked within the NSA and he won two NC NSA championships.
He also was an assistant coach for Charles B. Aycock High School in Pikeville for two seasons, 2005 and 2006.
His experience with Wayne County Hurricanes included recruiting participants to the program and assisting with showcase events to help players advance to the collegiate level.
