25-point night from Ward leads Eagles to first home win
RALEIGH, N.C. — Wake Tech women's basketball picked up their first home win of the season on Monday evening, taking down Barton Developmental 83-63 at the Southern Wake Campus.
Freshman guard Iveonna Ward set a new career-high with 25 points on 10-for-13 shooting. Ward leads the team in scoring (15.1) and is ninth among all Region 10 DII players. Destiny Mason added 13 points, and was all over the scoresheet. The sophomore forward finished the game with three rebounds, four assists, two steals, and two blocks.
The Eagles had their best shooting night of the season, going 11-for-24 from deep. It was the most three pointers made in a game for the team since January 17, 2024 in a 107-45 win over Cleveland.
Wake Tech is resumes conference play on Wednesday at home against #17 Bryant & Stratton. The Bobcats are 8-0 on the season and tied for first place with a 4-0 record in Region 10 play. Wednesday marks the final home contest and conference game for 2025. The Eagles wrap up the calendar year with a trip to Maryland for the 2025 Montgomery College Holiday Classic on December 20 and 21.
