Eagles set for first round matchup with East Central at World Series
ENID, Okla. — Wake Tech baseball is set for their first game at the NJCAA Division II Baseball World Series, with their first round matchup against #5-seed East Central scheduled to start at 9:00 CT at David Allen Memorial Stadium. The game was originally scheduled to start at 7:00 CT, but Friday's weather delayed the game two hours.
The Eagles arrived in Enid on Thursday evening, and on Friday head coach DJ Russ was presented with the NJCAA South Atlantic District Coach of the Year award.
In their last 18 games, the Eagles are 16-2, including four wins against nationally-ranked opponents.
The Warriors are 46-13 on the season and finished second in the Region 23 regular season standings. They fell twice to Northwest Mississippi in the Decatur Regional tournament. They are led offensively by freshman Mason Hickman, who enters the World Series with a .434 batting average, 15 home runs, and 76 RBI.
